How Darius & Josie Came Together
It all started online. After a couple of weeks of chatting through screens, we finally met up in person—and knew pretty quickly that this was worth pursuing.
Our first real date took us down to the river here in Kansas City. We spent the time walking across the bridge and along the riverside walkway, just talking and soaking it all in. It was simple, grounded, and exactly the kind of quiet moment that makes you think, “Oh, this could be something.”
Life, as it does, threw a few curveballs our way. Darius moved into van life, Josie launched her massage therapy career, and we navigated those early years together. After taking a brief pause of a year or two apart, we realized what we’d been missing—and found our way back to each other stronger than before. Sometimes the best love stories aren’t the ones that happen in a straight line.
When Darius knew it was time to make it official, he waited for the perfect countdown. On the last day of December, with the New Year’s Eve Ball Drop playing on TV, he asked Josie to marry him right before the ball fell. A brand new year, a brand new chapter, and a resounding “yes!”
